Derek Taylor Kent is an author, screenwriter, and performer based out of Los
Angeles, California. His new book series, SCARY SCHOOL (ScarySchool.com),
was published by HarperCollins in 2011 and has garnered rave reviews and sold
out its first printing. New books in the Scary School series will be coming out
every June. Derek is a graduate of UCLA School of Theater and the Second City
writing and improve program. He had four projects optioned in 2011 , including
the feature comedy I'M WITH CUPID, which he co-wrote with the Sad Ninja crew
and is currently in development. He also won the Other Network comedy writing
contest for his spec scripts of 30 Rock and The Sarah Silverman Program. On
the side, Derek teaches children's writing and young adult writing for Writing Pad
in Los Angeles (
writingpad.com).
Geoffrey Plitt is a director, screenwriter, and standup comic from Los Angeles. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, he has trained and performed in Chicago with the acclaimed Second City, ImprovOlympic, and ComedySportz theaters.
After returning to L.A., he co-founded the comedy group Sad Ninja whose viral videos have attracted roughly a million views, including the web pilot "Two Girls One Cop" (produced by Comedy Central), the music video "Why Weed Is Better Than Sex" (L.A. Comedy Festival), and the short film "Rock Obama: The Barack Obama Musical" (L.A. Comedy Shorts).
Venturing into screenwriting, Geoff's debut feature-length film "Paranormal Whacktivity" shot last December and is in post-production. Geoff also enjoys performing standup comedy as a regular at the Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and Jon Lovitz clubs in LA. He was recently the featured entertainment for High Times Magazine's Cannabis Cup in Denver, and you can catch him as Jay Leno's nephew "Lenny" in the series finale of Disney's "Hannah Montana".
